Windows 8 Tips and Tricks Hack

1. Add a Shutdown Tile to Metro

• Navigate to:C:\Users\/[USERID]/\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
• Right-Click & select New -> Shortcut
• Type the location of the item: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0
• Click Next
• Type a name for this shortcut: Shutdown NOW!
• Click Finish
• Press Windows Key to return to Start Page
• Right-Click on the new tile
• Click Open file location
• Click Change Icon
• Click OK when you get the error message.
• Click the Shutdown Icon
• Click OK
• Click Apply
• Click OK

2. Some users find it difficult to use Windows 8 without start menu. Fortunately Stardock has released a small application called "Start8"
